Flight Changes Flown Information
2305a.pdf No Yes Goals were set sharp on the 'high' wind. The last target was reachable for most pilots.
2305p.pdf No Yes A Hare and Hounds task was set. The winds were OK but some changes of direction allowed only a third of the pilots to score in the MSA.
2405a.pdf FIN and HWZ cancelled Yes Pilots were requested to reconvene at the airfield in the SW of the map. Due to proximity of CB's it was decided to take-off from the airport's CLA and the FIN and the Hesitation Waltz tasks were cancelled. The JDG and LRN tasks were flown in winds that turned out to be variable. Interesting tasks evolved requiring a lot of tactical decision making during the flight. The winning result is remarkable and can be downloaded here (525kb).
2405p No No No tasks were set and during the task briefing the afternoon flight was cancelled.
2505a No No The briefing was cancelled during the night and a message on the voice mail box enabled pilots to return sleeping.
2505p No No The briefing was cancelled and a message on the voice mail box was left.
2605a.pdf No No A nice set of tasks was set with a PDG in 2000ft (STAR). Unfortunately the flight was cancelled after waiting for a while in the improvised CLA NE of the city because the winds remained just above the limit.
2605p.pdf No Yes A BOX, HWZ and ANG were set. Pilots did achieve good results in the box best result by Zoltan NEMETH can be seen here. The wind slowed down and good results were hard to achieve. Because of the slowing down of the wind, only half of the pilots managed to finish the Angle task before sunset.
2705a.pdf ANG was cancelled during task briefing. Yes The winds were slow and variable and what there was as direction was going to a swamp area. So a triple HNH was set to be able to lead the pack in manageable areas and a ANG task at the end. During the Task Briefing questions arose and after some deliberation with Masashi Kakuda and David Levin, I decided to cancel the ANG task. During flight the winds became slower and slower and some pilots did not achieve the second goal. There were no markers in the third MSA.
2705p.pdf 2 PDGs changed to one HWZ Yes Two PDG's were set in a frustrating slow and changing wind in all directions, even in altitude. The tasks were changed to a single HWZ. After all, the flight became a good challenge of skill when four of the HWZ goals could be achieved making it difficult for a pilot to choose.
2805a.pdf No Yes Finally the weather gods were on our side and in near perfect conditions with good steering in slow winds, a JDG, HWZ and JDG was set for the last flight. 90% of the pilots scored in the set MSA's
